Energy and Climate Action
The Big Picture
PCPC member companies are committed to reducing their energy consumption, transitioning toward lower-carbon or renewable sources of energy, and ambitiously cutting their carbon dioxide emissions while implementing mitigation, adaptation and resilience strategies.
Industry’s Commitments
Many of PCPC’s member companies have committed to the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), We Mean Business Coalition and RE 100 and report annually to CDP.
- Science-based targets (SBTs) are designed to limit global warming to well below 1.5 degrees Celsius and prevent the worst impacts of climate change. Today, more than 900 companies across a variety of sectors have committed to setting SBTs.
- We Mean Business Coalition is a group of nonprofit organizations collaborating globally to accelerate an inclusive transition to a net-zero economy. The seven founding partners – BSR™, Ceres, CDP, CLG (Corporate Leaders Group) Europe, Climate Group, The B Team and World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) – work with the world’s most influential businesses to take action on climate change, and deliver initiatives and activities central to driving business ambition, action and advocacy.
- RE 100 is a global corporate renewable energy initiative that brings together hundreds of large businesses committed to 100 renewable electricity.
- CDP, formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project, is a nonprofit that provides a global system for companies, cities, states and regions to measure, disclose, manage and share carbon emissions and other material environmental information.
