Sustainability

PCPC defines sustainability broadly to include the environmental impacts, social and economic value, and governance of the beauty and personal care products industry. We are dedicated to improving the well-being of people and the planet, united in our commitment to operate responsibly and integrate sustainable practices along the entire lifecycle of the products we manufacture and market. Our industry recognizes that managing the environmental, social and governance (ESG) dimensions of business and operations requires a focus on continuous improvement with measurement tools and management strategies.

Working together through best practice sharing, stakeholder education and engagement, and strategic communications and storytelling, PCPC supports our members’ sustainability practices and reputation through programmatic elements and initiatives aligned with the sector’s dynamic economic growth, exemplary citizenship, environmental stewardship and ethical/transparent behavior. While we don’t have all the answers, we are whole-heartedly devoted to creating a more beautiful world.

PCPC’s 2021 “Creating a More Beautiful World” sustainability report showcases our industry’s commitment to the responsible management of environmental impacts, as well as economic and social value, and highlights the innovative ways member companies have integrated sustainability into their business practices. PCPC’s 2019 sustainability report was the first of its kind.

PCPC also developed a Sustainability Handbook: Practical Guidance Toward Best Practice as a resource to help guide small- and medium-sized companies that have the desire to embrace sustainability but may not have the expertise or resources.
