Nicola Donnelly leads global sustainability policy for Kenvue, formerly part of Johnson & Johnson. Her work spans critical areas including plastics and packaging, the circular economy, ingredients in the environment, sustainability reporting, environmental claims, and environmental and human rights due diligence. She specializes in aligning global strategy with evolving policy landscapes, ensuring consistent advocacy across functions and geographies.
Nicola works closely with regional teams and global trade associations to support coordinated engagement on legislative and regulatory issues. She advises senior leaders on how emerging policy developments should shape business strategy and risk management. Her recent work includes advancing policy positions on chemical recycling, extended producer responsibility (EPR), and plastic packaging, as well as representing her organization in the Business Coalition for a Global Plastics Treaty.
Before transitioning to sustainability, Nicola served in the UK Civil Service, focusing on international and large business tax strategy. A secondment to Johnson & Johnson in 2016—where she contributed to the UK microbeads ban—sparked her passion for sustainability policy and set the direction for her career. She brings a cross-functional, big-picture approach to complex policy challenges.
