Dr. Melanie C. Buser, PhD, DABT, MPH, is a Senior Associate Health Scientist at RHP Risk Management with more than a decade of experience in environmental health, epidemiology, toxicology, and human health risk assessment. Prior to joining RHP, she served in scientific leadership roles at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). At OSTP, she led interagency initiatives on PFAS, contaminants of emerging concern, sustainable chemistry, and environmental health policy across more than 15 federal agencies. Dr. Buser is recognized for her expertise in PFAS, weight-of-evidence evaluation, and translating complex scientific data into risk and regulatory decision-making. Her work has included development of toxicological profiles and health-based guidance values for high-profile environmental contaminants, as well as leadership on national responses to toxic exposure incidents. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and federal reports and is an active contributor to the fields of toxicology, epidemiology, and risk assessment. Dr. Buser earned her PhD in Epidemiology from Georgia State University and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology.
