Dr. Stephanie Kennedy is an ecotoxicologist at ToxStrategies. She routinely supports ecological risk assessments for a diverse client base, contributing to environmental safety evaluations of industrial chemicals, cosmetic ingredients, consumer products, and microplastics. Dr. Kennedy has extensive experience collecting, evaluating, and synthesizing scientific evidence and effectively communicating findings to support informed decision-making.
In addition to ecotoxicology, she also appreciates the importance of environmental fate properties such as biodegradation, persistence, solubility, and bioaccumulation when conducting environmental assessments. Recently, she has contributed to multi-collaborator global initiatives focused on defining the domain of applicability for eco-New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) and advancing their integration into environmental safety assessments.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Marine Science and master’s degree in Environmental Health Sciences from the University of South Carolina. She completed her doctorate in Environmental Toxicology at Clemson University. Dr. Kennedy is an active member of the Society of Environmental Toxicology of Chemistry (SETAC), regularly participating in the US and European annual meetings. She serves on the board of directors for the Carolina’s SETAC chapter, and is the current Chair of the global Environmental Risk Assessment Interest Group.
