Dr. Donald Versteeg is the Principal at EcoStewardship LLC which focuses on helping companies support and improve the sustainability and safety of their ingredients and products. This includes developing ingredient safety and sustainability assessments, conducting alternatives analysis to replace current actives, and responding to regulatory and customer needs for safety information on ingredients and products.

Don worked for over 30 years in the consumer products industry, retiring from Procter & Gamble’s Environmental Safety & Sustainability organization where he supported numerous company ingredients from regulatory and scientific challenges, led the company’s environmental risk assessment team and served on environmental sustainability teams in a variety of business units including Pharmaceuticals, Fabric and Home Care, and Personal Care.

Don has published over 40 scientific papers and presented at numerous scientific meetings on chemicals in the environment, the sustainability of consumer products, and green chemistry. He served as Aquatic Toxicology Editor for the journal Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (ET&C) and served on the Board of Directors and as the Secretary Treasurer of the Society of Environmental Toxicology & Chemistry (SETAC). He holds a PhD in Environmental Toxicology from Michigan State University.
