Dr. Bart Heldreth is the Executive Director of the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR), a nonprofit scientific organization established in 1976 to assess the safety of cosmetic ingredients used in the United States. CIR conducts thorough evaluations of cosmetic ingredients through the Expert Panel for Cosmetic Ingredient Safety, comprising dermatologists, toxicologists, chemists, and other experts. Their findings are published in the peer-reviewed International Journal of Toxicology. Dr. Heldreth joined CIR in 2010 as Managing Director and was promoted to Executive Director in 2017. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Kent State University and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of South Florida.
