Connie Mitchell is a Senior Scientific Program Manager at the Health and Environmental Sciences Institute (HESI), where she leads initiatives advancing new approach methodologies (NAMs) for safety assessment and decision-making of substances. She manages the Botanical Safety Consortium (BSC) and the Emerging Systems Toxicology Committee, fostering cross-sector collaboration among academic, government, nonprofit, and industry scientists to develop and integrate innovative, human-relevant methods. She is a co-author on over 25 peer-reviewed publications and has presented her work at international toxicology conferences, including the Society of Toxicology Annual Meeting. Prior to joining HESI, she was an ORISE Fellow at the US Environmental Protection Agency. She holds an MS in Environmental Toxicology from the University of California, Riverside, and a BS in Biochemistry from West Virginia University.
