Mike Thompson

Senior Vice President, Government Affairs

Mike Thompson is senior vice president of Government Affairs. He has developed new programs and alliances for PCPC, including partnerships with both traditional and non-traditional allies.

Thompson’s responsibilities extend beyond the management of State Government Affairs activities to PCPC’s California and New York Political Action Committees, as well as the oversight of the Emerging Issues Conference.

Prior to joining PCPC in 2000, Mike led government affairs efforts at the federal, state and local level for several other prominent trade associations. Previous roles include director of State and Local Government Affairs for the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and vice president of the Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) – then called the Chemical Specialties Manufacturers Association (CSMA). His responsibilities at HCPA included managing industry relations with the California Air Resources Board, along with directing both legislative and regulatory activities.

Thompson served on the Board of Directors for the State Government Affairs Council (SGAC) for seven years, including as past president. A Massachusetts native, he holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in Public Administration from The George Washington University.
