John Chave was educated at the Universities of Sheffield and Exeter in the UK. He is a lawyer by training and has worked in the health field in London and Brussels. He was secretary general of the Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (PGEU), a post he had held from 2006 to 2015. Since then, he has been director general of Cosmetics Europe.
