Dr. Stephanie O’Neal

Dr. O’Neal is a Product Safety Toxicologist for Kao USA Inc., who owns the John Frieda, Jergens, Curel, Biore, Guhl, Wakati, and MyKirei brands. She conducts human health risk assessments, provides guidance to the raw material safety assessors, and leads the adverse events team. She is additionally responsible for clinical and in vitro testing and packaging safety.

She received her bachelor’s degrees in biology and psychology from Indiana University and her PhD in toxicology from Purdue University. She also holds professional certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology.

Dr. O’Neal has a long-term interest in service to professional organizations. She has been a member of the Society of Toxicology since 2011 and has served the Society as Graduate Student Representative of the Metals Specialty Section (2013-2015), poster session chair (multiple years), best paper award reviewer for the Risk Assessment Specialty section (multiple years), and as an appointed representative to the Rapid Response Task Force (2014-2015) which drafted the Society’s guiding principles for external risk communication. In recent years, she has been an active participant on PCPC’s Safety and Regulatory Toxicology Committee and more recently on PCPC’s MoCRA working groups dedicated to adverse events and safety substantiation. She looks forward to serving the SRTC members.
