(3-A SSI), and Bryan Downer, VP, Sales and Marketing, Sani-Matic, will discuss 3-A SSI and the essential role it plays in the development of standards for hygienic processing equipment for food and other comestible products. The webinar will also discuss the economic benefits of 3-A design criteria and the need to establish a hygiene-focused culture throughout the operation, including leveraging 3-A criteria to benefit the processors of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). 

About the Speakers

Timothy R. Rugh, CAE
Executive Director, 3-A Sanitary Standards, Inc.

Timothy R. Rugh, CAE, has served as executive director of 3-A Sanitary Standards, Inc. (3-A SSI), since the group became organized as a new stand-alone entity in January 2003. 3-A SSI maintains more than 80 sanitary standards for equipment and accepted practices for processing systems used in the food and pharmaceutical industry. 3-A SSI administers the 3-A Symbol licensing program to help regulatory sanitarians, fabricators, and processors assure that processing equipment conforms to the design criteria for acceptance by USDA, FDA and state regulatory authorities. 

Before joining 3-A SSI, Rugh managed several different national and international associations in high technology, the food industry, commercial and industrial products. Members of 3-A SSI include the Food Processing Suppliers Association, the International Association for Food Protection, and the International Dairy Foods Association. 

Bryan Downer
Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Sani-Matic

Bryan Downer is an engineer, educator and innovator. Downer joined Sani-Matic in 2017 and serves as VP of Sales and Marketing, including product development. He has helped consumer goods companies excel, grow and make safe products for nearly three decades. During his career, he has held a variety of positions, including senior engineer, VP of Engineering and VP of Product Management. He has spoken and trained on a variety of topics associated with the food, beverage, personal care, and biotech industries and has been a graduate degree instructor.

During his career, Downer has been involved in dozens of innovations, new products and hygienic process advancements. He is a patent-holder, holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership and serves on several industry committees, including EHEDG, OPx, ASME-BPE and 3A-SSI, where he is a certified conformance evaluator.
