The Personal Care Products Council offers a variety of services to its members. These services include:
Personal Care Products Council members can also benefit from the Council staff’s expertise in the following areas:
- Science: The Council’s Science Department works with scientists from member companies to address technical issues affecting the cosmetic industry. Our scientific committees and task forces identify areas requiring research, and develop and monitor appropriate research programs. Through the Council, the industry undertakes many critical scientific programs that contribute to the industry’s excellent safety record and high safety standards.
- Governement Affairs: The Council’s Legislative Departments monitor federal and state legislation that could impact the cosmetic industry. The Council represents industry interests before Congress and state legislatures, and educates legislators of the impact certain legislative proposals have on the industry.
- Global Strategies: The Council’s International Department monitors important developments in international regulatory and scientific issues affecting the cosmetic industry. The Council maintains contact with industry and government groups around the world, and presses for changes in cosmetic regulations to make it easier for the industry to do business worldwide. The department also conducts an Anticounterfeiting Program to combat illegally imported counterfeit products, and prepares certificates of free sale for member companies needing export documentation.
- Legal: The Council’s Legal Department represents industry before the Food and Drug Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, and other federal and state regulatory agencies. The staff monitors state and federal court decisions on cosmetic industry issues, including regulatory requirements, trademark infringement and product liability. The association takes appropriate action to protect industry interests and will defend the industry’s position in court or before regulatory agencies.
- Public Affairs: The Public Affairs Department communicates vital industry information and views to members, legislators, regulators, the press, and consumers. The department monitors national print and broadcast media and distributes information to the media that provides the public with a balanced, accurate view of the industry and its position on important issues.
- Publications: publications that are available in the Council’s bookstore. The Council also publishes member newsletters (view a sample issue) and special reports on key issues.
- Events: The Council holds events exclusively for members, including the Annual Meeting, Science Conference, Legal & Regulatory Conference, and other issue-specific seminars.
